As we transition from winter into spring, you may be suffering with sinus or other respiratory issues. If so, try Nasya Oil for sinus and respiratory health. Whether your sinuses are dried out from indoor heating, or you have some congestion due to allergies, you may benefit from this classic oil treatment from Ayurveda.

Nasya Oil Benefits

Nasya Oil can soothe and protect the nasal passages, clear the sinuses, and support respiratory health. I'm prone to sinus congestion and infections, so I use the Neti Pot a lot, but it can dry out my nasal passages. So when I feel that I'm getting congested or allergies are acting up, I use the Neti Pot at night to clean out my sinuses, and Nasya Oil in the morning to prevent dryness in the nasal passages. Let's look at how to use Nasya Oil, and also, who should not use it.

You can use plain sesame oil or olive oil. Just add your oil to a 1-ounce bottle with a dropper and label the bottle. You could also purchase a Nasya Oil from my shop or from Banyan Botanicals.  To use Nasya Oil, tilt your head back by hanging your head off the edge of your bed or couch. If that’s not possible, sit in a chair and tilt your head back. Place 3-5 drops into each nostril. Lightly, block off the nostrils but not all the way, and gently sniff the oil up your nose. If you taste the oil at the back of your throat, then you sniffed too hard. Allow the oil to soak in for a few minutes before lifting your head.

Do not use Nasya Oil on children, if you’re pregnant, have a sinus infection, a cold or flu.
